چکیده

Molecular devices are reported utilizing active self-assembled monolayers containing the nitroamine @28-amino-4,48-di~ethynylphenyl!-58-nitro-1-benzenethiolate# or the nitro compound @4,48-di~ethynylphenyl!-28-nitro-1-benzenethiolate# as the active components. Both of these compounds have active redox centers. Current–voltage measurements of the devices exhibited negative differential resistance at room temperature and an on–off peak-to-valley ratio in excess of 1000:1 at low temperature. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~00!03234-4#

Measurements of contact specific low-bias negative differential resistance of single metalorganic molecular junctions.

Negative differential resistance (NDR) behaviors of single molecule junctions composed of a thiol-terminated Ru(ii) bis-terpyridine (Ru(tpy-SH)2) molecule sandwiched between two gold electrodes are measured using a specifically modified scanning probe microscope break junction technique (SPMBJ) at room temperature. The low-bias (0.623 ± 0.135 V) NDR observed for one of the three conductance gro...

The Temperature Dependent Electron Transport Studies in a Molecular Device

The quantum transport through Tour Wires (TWs) was studied at room temperature and high temperature range using nonequilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) formalism combined with extended Huckel theory (EHT). AuTour Wire-Au junctions were constructed with functional groups NO2 and NH2.The influence of the temperature effect on the transport characteristics have been emphasized, and the result shows...

Room Temperature Hydrogen Sensor Based on Single-Electron Tunneling Between Palladium Nanoparticles

In this paper, we present the results of single-electron tunneling in two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal closed packed arrays of palladium nanoparticles. After inspecting the emergence of Coulomb blockade phenomena, we demonstrate the possibilities of using these arrays as a single-electron tunneling based hydrogen sensor. We assumed arrays of palladium nanoparticles with diameters of 3.5 and 6...

Charge Storage Model for Hysteretic Negative-Differential Resistance in Metal-Molecule-Metal Junctions

Experimental results on the electrical characteristics of Hg-alkanethiol/arenethiol-Au molecular junctions are used to develop a physical model for the hysteretic negative-differential resistance NDR for these, and possibly other, metal-molecule-metal junctions. The dependence of the room-temperature current-voltage characteristic on sweep direction and sweep rate is examined. Based on several ...

Giant resistance change across the phase transition in spin-crossover molecules.

The electronic origin of a large resistance change in nanoscale junctions incorporating spin-crossover molecules is demonstrated theoretically by using a combination of density functional theory and the nonequilibrium Green's function method for quantum transport. At the spin-crossover phase transition, there is a drastic change in the electronic gap between the frontier molecular orbitals. As ...
